Key Industries
Lancaster was built by the glass industry, with Anchor Hocking producing glassware at its facilities beginning in 1905. It is still the second largest private employer in the county and manufacturing comprises more than 10% of jobs within the county. Specific industries include packaging, auto part suppliers, food and agriculture manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing. Fairfield Medical Center is the largest employer in the county with 2,200 employees providing healthcare services to citizens as a non-profit hospital for more than 100 years. In addition, Fairfield County is beginning to see significant growth in the logistics industry in the northwestern corner of the county. Fairfield County continues to be a hot spot destination for manufacturing and logistics companies because of its proximity to Columbus and the suppliers that can be found in the immediate area. With more than 130 manufacturers in the county, there are a plethora of opportunities to use local supply chains to help eliminate production delays.
