WIOA Programs

On the Job Training: Reimbursement of up to 50% of training wages for eligible new employees.

  • - Reimbursement for up to $8,500 or 1,040 hours (whichever comes first) per employee participant.
  • - Employers can be in the public, private, or nonprofit sector.
  • - OJT participants must receive wages, benefits, and working conditions equal to those provided to regular employees doing the same type of work.
  • - Potential participants must go through WIOA eligibility at their local OhioMeansJobs Center before they are hired.
  • - Incumbent Worker Training: Reimbursement of up to 90% of training costs to upskill current employees.

The Incumbent Worker Training program can cover 90% of the cost of training for an employer up to $1,000 per employee participant for businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

  • - Eligible employers include private for-profit businesses and health care providers that are not-for-profit entities.
  • - The occupation receiving the training must be on the Area 20 In-Demand Jobs List.
  • - A majority of the training cohort must be employed with the company for 6 or more months, and all trainees must be full-time employees.

TechCred:

Ohio TechCred provides reimbursement for upskilling employees in technology focused areas. Employers can be reimbursed up to $2,000 per industry recognized credential. A list of eligible credentials can be found here: Credential List | TechCred (ohio.gov)
