Fairfield County prides itself on its workforce development. In 2020, Fairfield County was ranked as the 24th best large county for talent attraction in the United States by EMSI. Its perfect location allows talent to be drawn from the Columbus Metro area, as well as the Appalachian region of southeastern Ohio. There are 29 colleges within 50 miles of Fairfield County including Ohio University, Hocking College, The Ohio State University, and Columbus State Community College. There are 1,800 high school graduates every year in the growing county, which boasts two robust technical schools. The Economic and Workforce Development Department operates its own training center, the Fairfield County Workforce Center. It is located directly along Route 33 and its educational partners provide company-specific training in manufacturing, skilled trades, and healthcare.
